Here is my unboxing and video talk through of this months box:

So what was in the box this month? This months box is all about Summer...

Of course there is always a postcard from me letting you know all about the theme:

Ah Summer, how we have longed for you! Those glorious long warm evenings, walking barefoot over grass or sand, ice cream in hand. Bliss!

As I always say Summer is a state of mind and not a season so you don’t need a reason to don those flip flops and get outside and have some fun. In England we are lucky if we get a week or two of nice weather but still us Brits don’t let that deter us from getting to the beach even if we do end up eating our fish and chips in a layby with the heating turned up in the car. Happy memories though. I do love a good British Seaside although I do like more tropical climes too. For me they are different in their own way and I love them for it. I love lazy walks along the Norfolk shore, relaxed and chilled but I also love heading down to Cornwall for the surf although sadly in later years we haven’t been able to do that so much. Candy floss on the pier, 2p sliding slot machines… Whatever Summer means to you, wherever you are in the World, enjoy it where you can!

All boxes follow the same theme and this month all boxes were identical. You will have received 8 items with a total RRP of £22.75

Items that were in the box:

All boxes will have received:
  • Ice cream sticky notes*
  • List Pad
  • Paper Clips
  • Box of Stickers
  • Washi Tape
  • Note Book

Those that ordered a planner box will have received an art (painted by me) dashboard* as well as a planner charm*. One of the following dashboards will have been received (randomly chosen by me) as either Personal or A5 size depending on which box size you signed up for.

If you ordered a stationery box you will have received in replacement of the planner charm and dashboard:

  • Pack of Die Cuts
  • 2 x Notecards

*Designs received may vary from what is photographed.

The Badger Box - Quirky / Illustrated Gifts & Stationery

I was approached by the lovely Becca who runs an online shop called The Clever Badger as they have just launched a subscription box called The Badger Box. When Becca introduced herself she said that "The Clever Badger sells a range of quirky and illustrated gifts" so you can imagine how intrigued I was! I mean if you don't know me by now lol! You know that I love finding unique presents and stationery from designers and artisans, especially in the UK. Please do go and check out her website as she really does have some fantastic products.

Anyway obviously I said yes I would love to review your box...

What is the badger Box and how much etc?

The Badger Box is a monthly subscription box which contains four or five items with one commissioned by a UK based designer. The products will be a mixture of homewares, stationery, gifts, jewellery and greeting cards. Each box is themed, this month the theme was 'it's getting hot out there' and next month the theme is 'Great Adventures' which is released on 28th June 2015 at 7am.  A one off box is £18, a rolling subscription is £16 and £50 for 3 months worth of boxes. Shipping is free for all UK orders. International shipping will be the flat rate of £4.

So what did I receive?

I filmed my unboxing so check that out below.

In my box I received:

  • A packet of sweeties (errrrm yeah they are long gone!!)
  • A pair of 2d glasses but I am not sure what that is about he he!
  • A seed bomb - you throw it to scatter flower seeds around
  • A felt coaster
  • A greetings card
  • An art print

So what do I think?

I really like the concept of this box. I love the products that The Clever Badger sells so I know we can expect good things from the box in the future and I am really looking forward to following them on social media to see how the box grows and develops and finding out about new artists etc. I loved the theme of the box for sure and the quality of the items was really good. For me I would prefer if the print was 'finished' for want of a better word. It is a great piece of art but I think it would feel better if it was in a mount or something. It's hard to explain but for me it would just feel more like a product than a piece of card. I know from curating my own boxes that you know how much the RRP of an item is but other people don't always see this in the same way so it is hard for me to review this box in a way. I am more than sure that the RRP of the products meets what the box retails for but in my personal opinion it just felt like it was a bit shy of this. I don't want that to come accross as a bad thing because as I say, I know what that is like from a box curator point of view BUT I am all about giving honest reviews and feedback so I can only speak as I find. This is however the first ever box and so it can only grow over time. Overall I did really like the box though. Please do leave some feedback to let Becca know what your thoughts are, I am sure she would love to read them!

To find out more about the box and about The Clever Badger please check out these links:

If you are interested in purchasing a box, boxes will be available on June 28th at 7am on a first come, first served basis! To register your interest email info@thecleverbadger.com

The Letter Bee Box - Stationery, PenPals & Journals - April Unboxing

It's Letter Bee time again!

The Letter Bee box is a monthly box curated by Patty from Furthermore Press. The box is aimed at everyone who loves letter writing, stationery and journals. Each box is themed and all the goodies inside the box relate to that theme in some way. This is my second Letter Bee box and I can tell you I love it!

About the box:
Boxes can be ordered through Patty's Etsy shop - Furthermore Press
Letter Bee box: $35US inc shipping in US   $30US + $22.50US shipping for UK which in totaly equates to £36. Patty also offers a Petite Letter Box: $22US + $5.95US shipping, outside of the US you need to get in touch with Patty so she can give you a quote.

I filmed my unboxing so that you can get a better sense of the products or do please keep on reading for photos of what I received.

So the theme of this month was 'eco' and recycling which I love (I used to write a blog on Eco stuff called Our Little Eco Journey). My heart started missing a few beats when I saw how much Kraft stuff was in their as I do love my Kraft paper he he!

The massive eco element of this months box is that rather than contain it all in a cardboard box, Patty sent a reusable plastic box which I think would be great for housing supplies and taking them out in the garden with you.

As usual there is a card detailing all of the items inside as well as a sweet treat and some lovely tea.

On to the items then. Please note that there were also some itty bitty bits including but I have stuck to just showing some of the bigger items.

Firstly were reusable page flags, Clips, sticky notes and note cards

As always there is a good selection of note cards, postcards and greetings cards, all centred around this months theme (not all are shown here).

There was a selection of die cuts which is perfect for adding to your journal and if you don't have one don't worry because a handmade one was also included!

A lovely selection of stickers and pens.

And last but by no means least is this gorgeous art work from Patty herself. I love it and it will sit with my one from last month just above my desk where I can see it!

Another super fun box and a delight to receive, use and spread the love when I write to pen pals. Next months theme looks fab too so if you don't want to miss out make sure you head on over to Furthermore Press on Etsy to buy yours!

April Brimbles Box Reveal

I am changing things up a bit this month. As you know I normally release 'officially' on the blog contents of the Brimbles Box around the middle of the month. This is to make sure that people have definitely received theirs as I don't want to spoil the surprise. I have been asked by many people if I can share an unboxing of my own box on YouTube and give more explanation as to the contents of the box and what the intended purpose of it is / what people can do with the items.

So of course I am very happy to do that. If you haven't received yours yet and you don't want to know then I suggest you stop reading lol!

OK you are still here so you want to know! Right so here is my own personal unboxing. Keep reading for photos! If you would like to watch videos of unboxings from genuine customers as well as honest reviews from blogger you can watch the YouTube Brimbles Box playlist As I say they are all very honest so you can get a better feel for what was inside.

So what was in the box this month? Well it is April and here in the UK that usually means lots of April showers and all kinds of crazy weather!

So of course as always we start with a postcard from me:

“When it’s pouring rain and people complain, And things aren’t worth the shucks, Don’t you yell, just say Well Lovely weather for ducks” Rosemary Clooney.

Someone once said if it wasn’t for the weather the British wouldn’t have anything to talk about! Well there is nothing us Brits love more than to talk about the weather it seems. When it is cold it is too cold and when it is hot, well it is too hot. We are never happy are we! I know a lot of people don’t but I quite like the rain. There is nothing, and I mean nothing, like the smell after it has rained, or the way the road looks, all glistening with puddles ready to go splashing in. One of my favourite past times as a child was putting my wellies on and jumping in puddles. Hey who am I kidding I still do that now! I am a massive cloud gazer too I could watch the clouds go by for hours. I love it.

So let’s celebrate those April showers, because without them there would be no May flowers!

Much Love
Anna

OK so down to the individual items then…All boxes received the following:

  • Duck pen
  • Duck Paperclip
  • Schedule stamp set - weather icons!
  • Rainbow washi tape set
  • A little rubber ducky!
  • A pocket notebook*
  • To do list pad
  • Set of 5 notecards with envelopes*
  • Pack of weather stickers*
*Actual design may have varied from the image shown but will be in keeping with the theme of the month (Ducks / weather / blue)
Those that ordered a planner box will have received an art (painted by me) dashboard as well as a cloud planner charm. One of the following dashboards will have been received (randomly chosen by me) as either Personal or A5 size depending on which box size you signed up for.

For the Stationery box people they received:
  • Pack of 5 stickers
  • Set of postcards

Please do watch the above video as you can see all the products much more clearly and appreciate them better and of course you can learn more about the products and what to do with them.

I hope you like it, it was a lot of hard work sourcing a collection and putting it all together! At the time of writing I have some excess boxes available to purchase as a whole as well as some individual items so check out my online shop and my Etsy shop for those!

See you next month for May’s box. Remember if you would like to order a subscription or a one off box and you would like that box to be the May one you can order up to and on 30th April from: www.mrsbrimbles.co.uk/shop
