Pen Pal Pockets

So December box has landed.

I will most probably say this about every box but i love it!! i did an unboxing video opening it all up and i love all the colours in it and the different tones of blues and greens obviously with Anna's art work throughout which is the best part about it.

every month there is some 12"12 card stock and this month i decided with some of that card stock i would make a new pocket book that i have been enjoying making this last month.

1) i first chose the card stock i wanted to use. these two where ones i got in the box.

2) then i cut them down to size and figured out how many pockets i wanted.

3) i then made some adjustments to the pockets and stuck them down, with double sided tape. then used some of the washi tape that came in the kit to frame the sides and the bottom.

4) i used one of the sticky notes that came in the box as an embellishment on the bottom left and i fussy cut one of the penguins from some of the off cuts of card i had left from cutting the pockets.

5)i then went through my stash and used some of the word stickers that came in the November Brimbles box just to add the the bottom right hand corner.

6) then i used some of the stickers that came in the December box to embellish the top and also some of the enamel dots that came in the November box just on the green pockets to give them some depth.

7) then i used some of the stickers from the 12"12 sticker sheet by Simple stories and used some of the alpha stickers on that sheet to spell out hello. Then used some of the other stickers to embellish.

8) then i used some stickers from another 12"12 sticker sheet by Simple stories called The Reset Girl to spell out the lovely ladies name.

9) then i just filled it with some goddies and a letter for her.

10) finally i packaged up i used some of the washi tape that came in the box and taped the edges and used the stamp that came in the kit to stamp some snowflakes all over it and used on of the snow men post it notes to used as part of writing the address on it.

I love how this tuned out and i still have so much to use. As i said in the unboxing video for this box in the new year i will be starting to scrapbook in a 12"12 album so the other papers from the kit will be saved ready to scrapbook and i will blog about them as and when they are done.

I also love the key-ring that came in the box so much as soon as i finished filming the unboxing video it went straight on my purse.

Christmas Pocket Letter

geraldinejayne.com

Christmas literally jumped out at me when I opened this months box! I knew straight away I wanted to combine all the elements somehow, because they all look so good together. That's when the idea of doing a pocket letter came to me. I used pretty much every single item in this box for this pocket letter, bar the paperclip and planner stickers. Using the washi I decorated the edge of the pocket letter..

Next I got started cutting out the sheets of 12x12 cardstock...

Then I combined all the elements to make up the letter...

I hope this has inspired you to get creative in your own unique way. I haven't seen many pocket letters recently so it would be awesome to see them revived. Especially Christmas ones!

Pocket Letter Project Share

Hello, crafty friends! It's Stef here, from the Noveltea Corner, and I am back on the Mrs Brimbles blog sharing a fun pocket letter I made using supplies from the May Brimbles Box.

I fell in love with the Pebbles "Front Porch" stickers that came in the planner subscription box and knew they would be perfect for this pocket letter that I was making for a swap.

I started with an A4 sheet of white cardstock which I prepped with "Antique Linen" Distress Stain by Tim Holtz. I used some Distress Inks and stencils to create a background pattern and then used some Heidi Swapp Color Shine in gold and pink to add extra elements. Then I cut my cardstock into nine 2.5x3.5 inch cards.

I chose to use a set number of washi tapes - a collection from MAMBI (Peony) and some black and white tapes from my stash for contrast. I layered some washi underneath each sticker.

I pulled out some enamel dots to add to each card for a little bit of dimension, and tiny letter stickers from a Typo collection that I picked up a few years ago.

Finally, I used some tiny word stickers from the Simple Stories Carpe Diem collection.

Lastly, I outlined each card with a Sharpie pen.

I tried to cluster each sticker/tape collection in one section of each card, which I think produced a simple, but classy, look for each card and a cohesive style over all.
I hope that this inspires you to use your Brimbles Boxes and the supplies you have at home to create something fun and beautiful and unique!

Until next time, happy crafting!

Well if you remember last week I gave you a little show of the Easter themed pocket letter and said to come back this week for the Design Team Easter Themed Snail Mail Blog Hop!

Well here you are and we have a variety of snail mail to share with you. Each of us have created a piece of snail mail to send to someone else. It might be a pocket letter or it could be something different. Whatever it is we hope we have inspired you in some way to get more creative with your pen palling.

Here are just some sneak peaks, or some teasers if you will!

OK so to start your blog hop all you need to do is to head on over to Stef's blog which is: http://novelteacorner.blogspot.com/ and there you will find more photos and a break down of how she created this. Stef will then link  you on to the next person, Zinia to see what she made who will link you to the next person and so on! If for whatever reason you have problems here are all the blog links..

Easter Pocket Letter

The lovely ladies on my design team and I were chatting about wouldn't it be cool to create something together and do a blog hop and some snail mailing. So we decided why not do an Easter themed swap. Errrr yeah, bunnies and the like, Hello! Durrrr! He he!

So everybody has been busy creating their pocket letters or snail mail and I will be showing them off altogether on the blog (my blog, the one you are reading right now) on Good Friday which is 25th March. So if you come back then you will be able to see a 'Master' blog post which will start off the Bunny Hop (I know it's really a blog hop but I just had to write bunny in there lol!). You will then be directed to all of the ladies blogs so you can see how they made their creations etc. Sound fun, you betcha!

What I thought I would do today is share with you the pocket letter that I created for my swap partner so that you could see that in more detail as when we kick off with the blog hop you won't see it so much.

Of course I filmed the process of me making it so that you could see how it all came together:

I am really rather please with how it turned out especially since I was a bit rusty and hadn't made any for a while. I went through a period of doing loads and it got a bit too much so I stopeed. (I am not looking to take any more swaps on at the moment).

I love the little details too!

This is how it looks all bundled up and ready to put in the envelope. I thought I would tie in a chocolate bunny lollipop just to kind of round it off and make it look 'sweet'.

I used a mix of items that I already had plus items that were in the March Brimbles Box. Here is a supply list for you:

Top Middle

Top Right
  • Bits and pieces I had in (unknown)

Middle / Middle

Middle Right
  • Postcard from the March Brimbles Box embellished with washi tape from Lidl plus above.

Bottom Left
  • Items from my collection already had in.

I hope you liked it and remember to pop back on Good Friday to see all the Happy Mails!

Halloween Shaker Planner Dashboard

Hi everyone, Geraldine here. So this month I was asked by Anna whether or not I'd be interested in using some of the Halloween range available on her online shop. Now, I don't celebrate Halloween much these days but it used to be my favourite time of the year. Friends and I would go out for late night walks and take in the atmosphere. It was, as it always is, about community and friendship. Just see how communities use times like this to come together. That's what I love about these celebrations.

So it's not going to come as any surprise when I decided to use the Halloween range to create gifts for people. Now, I can't stand tacky! And there is a lot of tacky Halloween everything out there! But when I saw this range by October Afternoon, I was blown away. I genuinely haven't come across anything as lovely for Halloween. It has a real authentic, retro, look. Creative juices were flowing!
As you will see from the first photo I decided to try my hand at a Halloween themed pocket letter. These are very popular right now but I have never participated in it myself due to time constraints. But I thought the October Afternoon ephemera pack and other embellishments from this range would be perfect for this! Some of the pocket cards were made using some of the Halloween card stock from the Divider Pack. I made a paperclip using a badge embellishment as well as cute cards with ribbon and a button. I also combined word stickers with the larger die cuts as you can see here:

geraldinejayne.com

Next, I decided to try another new thing for me...a shaker dashboard for a personal size planner. For this I included Halloween sequins from our local pound shop. I gathered everything I would need together:

Next, I laminated a sheet of laminating plastic, cut to size, punched in the holes, and proceeded to sew three sides in orange thread. Then the fun bit! Filling the pocket!

It took a bit of shaking around to get everything the right way and then it was ready to sew closed:

And voila! One shaker dashboard complete and one very happy lady! I can check this one off the things to try list!

I hope this has inspired you to be creative and try new things this Halloween. You can find all these products, except the sequins of course, on the Mrs Brimble's Online Shop.

Have a very happy and safe Halloween everyone!
